Cala Mondrago - canvas print

When I painted this view of the beautiful Cala Mondragó in Mallorca, I wanted to capture the tranquil, untouched beauty of this natural park but view it through a warm, storybook lens. My goal was to reimagine this idyllic Mediterranean cove with a playful, inviting energy. While I have carefully captured the natural features - from the rugged, rocky cliffs and stone walls to the elegant pine trees framing the turquoise inlet - they are balanced by a much lighter, whimsical spirit.

The heart of the painting rests in the calm, sheltered waters of the bay, where two of my signature boats float side by side. I have stylised these vessels into bold, cheerful forms with unique, characterful silhouettes, transforming the peaceful cove into a magical, welcoming space. By combining the natural, old-world beauty of the Mallorcan coastline with these imaginative boats, I hope to lift the observer's spirits. It’s my way of capturing the quiet joy, warmth, and optimism of a perfect island escape, turning a stunning piece of nature into a happy, dreamlike sanctuary.
